Shower filters serve the noble purpose of eliminating the detrimental effects of chlorine and chloramines, which find their way into your shower water.

While many individuals opt to filter their drinking water to rid themselves of the displeasing chemical aftertaste left behind by chlorine, it is important to recognize that chlorine's impact extends beyond altering the flavor of your tap water to resemble a poolside beverage. Chlorine, in fact, can unleash havoc upon your physical well-being, leaving your tresses lackluster and faded, as well as exacerbating skin conditions such as acne and eczema.

Why have a filter shower?

By employing shower filters, you ensure that when you embark upon a soothing and rejuvenating moment under the cascade of warm water at day's end, it is a truly indulgent experience that nurtures and cherishes your delicate dermis.

The filter shower head is a shower head that contains a filter that purifies the chlorine and chloramines in the water, protecting your skin and hair from dryness and irritation. Chlorine can cause a range of skin problems, exacerbating blemishes, acne and rashes. The skin naturally produces oil to protect it from damage and overexposure, but chlorine strips the skin of this layer of oil, leaving it rough, dry, and even itchy. Chlorine is also more likely to irritate sensitive skin, especially the more delicate skin of babies and children.

Chlorine can also damage your hair. For dyed hair, chlorine will cause the color of the hair dye to slowly fade away and make the hair lose its luster. Washing your hair with chlorine-containing water can dry out and weaken your hair, causing split ends, green blonde hair, and worsening dandruff problems for your family and pets. Like your skin, chlorine can affect your hair's health by removing the body's own oils that protect your hair. This can lead to a dry, itchy, and dull scalp. Too much chlorine in the water can irritate your healthy skin and hair, so a shower with a filter is a must-have in your home.

When you're in the shower area, the warm water and steam will cause your pores to open. At the same time, the skin's absorption capacity will be greater in a warm and humid environment (this is the main reason why soaps and skin care products are recommended to be used after rinsing with warm water). However, this also means your skin is more susceptible to absorbing chemicals and pollutants from the shower. Chlorine has a low molecular weight and easily enters the bloodstream through the skin during bathing and is released as an inhalable gas. In fact, a ten-minute shower can contain more chlorine than drinking ten glasses of chlorinated water.

Where does chlorine in water come from?

Municipal water treatment centers use chlorine to disinfect the water supply to ensure safe drinking water citywide. Chlorine breaks down bacteria through oxidation, thereby ensuring the hygienic quality of water. Hypochlorous acid, formed when chlorine combines with water sources, can penetrate the cell walls of bacteria and completely destroy them from the inside. Chlorine is a powerful disinfectant that effectively protects urban water supplies from pathogenic microorganisms and harmful organisms.

However, once the disinfecting effect is achieved, retaining the chlorine in the water is not necessary. The smell of chlorine is unbearable, giving the water a pungent spiciness and a strong chemical smell. In addition, it is increasingly common for municipalities to use ammonia in conjunction with chlorine in water treatment, which produces a chemical byproduct called chloramine. Chloramines are the primary cause of “pool water smell.” Chloramines are considered more effective disinfectants than chlorine and are more difficult to remove from water. While chlorine can be successfully removed using filter media such as activated carbon and KDF, chloramine removal requires a more comprehensive filtration system or extended contact time.

Therefore, we have launched a series of filter showerheads to solve the problem of residual chlorine and impurities in water. Please check the details of each product.
